Steven Herman, Ph.D.
Chemistry Teacher, Pittsburgh High School, Pittsburg, CA
Dear High School Scholars,

After many years in biotechnology research and development I am excited to become a high school science teacher at Pittsburg High School. My goals are to guide you to a better understanding of science, math and engineering, to inspire many of you to careers in science or engineering, and to help all of you become thoughtful citizens. In this digital age when all of us are constantly bombarded with information from many different sources, it is more important than ever to understand how to evaluate and analyze information so that we can make informed decisions about our lives, our communities and our society.

The purpose of this website is to help you and your families get to know me, my background, my teaching philosophy, and my training to become a teacher. I look forward to guiding you to explore and learn about the world with the methods and thinking skills of a scientist.
