Inclusive Teaching in Single Subject Classrooms

Inclusive Teaching in Single Subject Classrooms is the last of four courses in the CSU East Bay curriculum for single-subject credential candidates that addresses the needs of students who are disabled, have learning disabilities and who are English language learners/emergent bilinguals. The course reviews and expands on how to implement principles of equity and diversity in curriculum content and school practices, and how to deliver comprehensive instruction to students with special needs in the general education classroom.

Reflection on the F.A.T. City Workshop on Learning Disabilities

The F.A.T. City Workshop (F.A.T. stands for frustration, anxiety, and tension) was developed by Richard Lavoie, director of the Riverview School for learning-disabled children in East Sandwich, MA. Mr. Lavoie has given the workshop thousands of times across the country, reaching tens of thousands of people. Although this video seems a little dated (it is from the early 1990s), it is eye-opening and relevant. It gives people without learning disabilities a glimpse of what everyday life is like for people with learning disabilities. Below is a brief reflection on the video. The video itself is below the reflection.
