Make a Periodic Table Activity

In the activity below, students arrange imaginary elements into a periodic table, based on the properties of the imaginary elements: atomic weights, physical states (solid, liquid, or gas), and color. This activity reinforces the patterns in the real periodic table of the elements: each column (or group) contains elements with similar chemical properties, atomic weights generally increase from left to right and top to bottom, and gases are generally on the right.
