Teaching Emerging Bilingual Students

In the CSU East Bay course, Introduction to Teaching Emergent Bilinguals, teacher candidates learn about the principles of equity and diversity, how to implement them in curriculum and school practices for all students, and methods for teaching English learners. Below are three assignments from the course: a reflection on an article reviewing recent research on educating English Learners, a reflection on a video depicting the challenges of an Emerging Bilingual middle school student, and a description of activities to build a positive classroom environment.
